Cloning a repo means downloading all of the project's code and metadata from the source-which in this case is GitHub. This repo has all of the finished steps of this tutorial already in it, so if you want to you can always use it as a reference. I've called my repository practical-git-tutorial. You can optionally add a README file if you'd like, and then click "Create repository." Configuring the new repo Next, choose a name for the repository and whether you want the repo to be public or private. Just click the "New" repository button on your home page: Creating a new repository The next thing we'll do is create a new repository in Github. It's not difficult-just follow the steps here. Secondly, we'll be using GitHub in this tutorial, so signup for a GitHub account here.Īfter you have a GitHub account, you'll need to create an SSH key to push your code from your local machine to GitHub (this key proves to GitHub when you push code that you are "you"). If not, you'll first need to install Git. If you already have Git installed, have made a GitHub account (or use any other provider like GitLab or Bitbucket), and you have setup an SSH key, you can skip this section. So with all of that said, I encourage you to follow along with the examples on your own machine-let's start! I also will not be using any tree diagrams (like the one below) because they only confuse me, and I've never had to think about Git in this way to be productive as a software developer. There's definitely a lot more to Git than is presented here, but these are things you'll learn as you work with it over time. In doing so, we'll use simple commands and explain the underlying concepts as they're useful-but only to the extent that they aid understanding. We'll work through a series of examples to build a from-the-ground-up understanding of how to use Git and ultimately collaborate with your teammates. So in this tutorial that's exactly what we'll do. ![]() Just start being productive with the tool-the fundamentals and edge cases will get sorted out over time. Like many other areas in programming, I believe the best way to learn is to just start doing. Microsoft Power AutomateĮver heard the saying, “Nobody ever got fired for picking Microsoft”? (Or was it IBM?) Anyway, Microsoft Power Automate is a great option for businesses. Getting a notification about the Jotform submission took the longest with Zapier, due to the 15-minute update interval. For example, you’re able to see Jotform’s form ID numbers.Ĭreating the Zap was only slightly more difficult than creating an Applet with IFTTT - and it was nice to have more control over the process. Zapier also gives you more information about the tools you’re integrating with. But Zapier lets you test each step of the Zap as you create it, so you’re less likely to get lost. There are more options when creating the Zap than with IFTTT, which means there’s also room for confusion. One of them is its own in-house SMS sender that’s very simple to set up. (IFTTT is able to connect to ClickSend with just the click of a button.) Zapier offers about 40 options to send SMS messages, though. Zapier connects easily to Jotform but requires a username and API key to connect to ClickSend. Many of the best features are only available with Professional plans and above, though. The Starter plan gives you 20 Zaps and 750 tasks, starting at $19.99 per month. It has a free tier that gives you five Zaps and 100 tasks per month. Zapier is the most expensive automation tool of the lot. The interface feels more like a traditional productivity tool. Zapier has thousands of integrations (more than anyone else), and there are more options to customize your “Zaps” as you build them. Zapier differentiates itself by being geared to the more cerebral folks. It offers something very similar to IFTTT - tons of integrations, triggers, and actions. Zapier came out about a year after IFTTT. The example Applet didn’t fire right away, but after looking into it, I discovered this was because IFTTT only checks for changes every five minutes or so - even with the Pro plan. And it is, but IFTTT doesn’t sacrifice usability.Ĭreating the Applet was a smooth process and only took a few minutes. It’s almost as if it’s trying to say it’s so easy even a child can use it. One thing that’s interesting about IFTTT’s interface is that it uses huge buttons and bright colors. And while having only one option may sound limiting, ClickSend is a great tool - it makes setting up a snap, has simple pricing, and allows you to send texts without a dedicated number. IFTTT has only one general SMS option through ClickSend, which is also easy to connect to. It also offers advanced plans for businesses and developers.Ĭonnecting IFTTT to Jotform is quick and easy. IFTTT is affordably priced, giving you three “Applets” for free and unlimited Applets for just $3.33 per month. It focuses on being accessible to anyone - whether or not they have any technical knowledge. IFTTT is still the most popular automation tool, and that’s likely because it’s the most user-friendly of the bunch. OK, technically, Yahoo Pipes came out first, but it’s now long gone. IFTTT was released in 2011, making it the original mainstream automation tool. ![]() ![]() ![]() If, however, you tend to wear lower-rise pants, these may ride a little too high and will be very evident whenever you bend over! If you like to wear high-waisted clothes or dresses and tunics that come in at your natural waist, getting classic cuts and high-waisted underwear can help reduce panty lines at the hips. You can get classic briefs in all sorts of colours, fabrics, and patterns and they can be really cute! Especially if you like that comfy-lounging-at-home look! Classic briefs sit at around the natural waist and offer full coverage of the bum. This is the kind of cut that often is limited to just being seen as “granny panties” like this:īut that’s not all classic briefs can be. Classic Briefs (sometimes called “high waisted briefs”) Briefsīriefs come in multiple versions, which is where it gets complicated. These can be fantastic for both plus-sized and smaller women with more subtle curves, but if you have a very round bum you may end up with a lot of wedgies. This is a really great option for women who want to have a bit more coverage with their underwear in order to feel comfortable and contained.Ī problem with boy shorts is that women with fuller behinds can often feel that these just end up becoming thicker “bum floss” than other underwear cuts since they have so much more fabric but still can ride up on women with rounder bottoms. Also, since there is more side coverage, it’s more likely to lie flat when you have a pair that fits correctly. These can be good for limiting underwear lines under dresses and skirts if you get seamless boyshorts without needing to wear a thong. Here’s an example of some cute lace boy shorts: These are a full-coverage option that are still low-waisted.
